Archie Simpson Arena Fitness Centre re-opening evening of June 26

(Fort McMurray, AB – June 26, 2020) – The Archie Simpson Arena Fitness Centre in Fort Chipewyan will re-open and be available for public use beginning at 4:00 p.m., June 26, 2020. While enjoying the fitness centre, please use the amenities responsibly and stay safe by following all updated facility rules and public health guidelines. 

To help ensure the safety of guests and staff, when using the Archie Simpson Arena Fitness Centre, you must: 

  • Sign-in at the front desk upon arrival 
  • Come dressed for your activity as change room access is temporarily unavailable 
  • Clean equipment using sanitizing supplies provided after use 
  • Maintain 2 metres of distance from other guests at all times
  • Follow all posted signage and one-way traffic flow 
  • Stay home if you are feeling ill or have travelled outside the country in the past 14 days  
  • Cover your cough and wash your hands frequently 
  • Use your best judgement & ask for assistance

Guests who are not following the facility rules or public health guidelines, will be asked to leave. 

Following the direction of Alberta Health Services, additional preventive measures have been put in place at the Fitness Centre, which means things may look a little different from your last visit. Here is what to expect while visiting the facility: 

  • Max capacity of spaces is limited to 8 people 
  • Certain equipment may be unavailable 
  • Change rooms are temporarily unavailable 
  • Increased cleaning and disinfection of all surfaces and equipment is taking place
  • Additional sanitization stations are available   
  • Masks are not recommended to be worn during high-intensity physical activity

As we re-open municipal facilities, changes may continue to be made to support the health and safety of guests and staff. Your cooperation and understanding is greatly appreciated as we make adjustments to ensure visits are as safe and enjoyable as possible.
