Municipality accepting volunteer applications for two committees

(Fort McMurray, AB – September 13, 2019) – The Municipality is accepting applications for volunteers to serve on two of its Council-appointed Committees.

Committees help advise Council on matters that affect the public, giving residents a chance to provide input to decision-makers in local government. The two committees currently accepting applications are the Wood Buffalo Downtown Revitalization Advisory Committee and the Wood Buffalo Waterfront Advisory Committee.

The Downtown Revitalization Advisory Committee will make recommendations to Council on matters pertaining to downtown revitalization. The committee will include a range of stakeholders and a non-voting Council representative, and will build on information provided by residents and stakeholders during the current downtown revitalization engagement process, as well as previous efforts outlined in the Downtown Readiness Report.

The Waterfront Advisory Committee will make recommendations to Council on matters pertaining to waterfront revitalization. The committee will include a range of stakeholders and a non-voting Council representative, and will build on the recommendations of the successful Waterfront Steering Committee and information gathered during the current downtown revitalization process.

The deadline for applications is September 27.
