Municipality announces free transit on election day

Fort McMurray, AB – October 9, 2019) – Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo Council voted at last night’s council meeting to provide free access to public transit on Monday, October 21, the day of the 2019 Federal Election.

The free ridership will be in effect on all transit routes for the whole day, not just during polling hours.

“For many residents, municipal transit will be key to accessing polls, and removing the barrier of transit fares will provide even more opportunity to vote on federal election day,” said RMWB Mayor Don Scott.

All schedules are posted online at rmwb.ca/transit, so riders can plan ahead for their trip to the polls for the 2019 Federal Election.
