Municipality collecting public feedback on winter maintenance

(Fort McMurray, AB – March 11, 2020) – The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) is encouraging residents to share their thoughts about winter maintenance on roads in Fort McMurray through a survey, online forum and a series of public engagement sessions.   

Beginning today until April 15, residents can fill out a Winter Maintenance Zone (WMZ) survey and share feedback in an online forum about winter maintenance on streets not included in the WMZ program. To fill out the online survey and leave feedback, visit participate.rmwb.ca  

The Municipality will also be hosting a series of public engagement sessions to continue the discussion about how snow is cleared and removed from streets in Fort McMurray. Team members from the RMWB Public Works department will be in attendance to share information, answer questions, provide the survey and listen to resident feedback about winter maintenance. 

Residents are invited to attend the following public engagement sessions: 

  • March 16 from 5 – 8 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic High School, main lobby 
  • March 19 from 4 – 8 p.m. at the Suncor Community Leisure Centre main concourse, MacDonald Island Park 
  • April 9 from 4 – 8 p.m. at the Suncor Community Leisure Centre main concourse, MacDonald Island Park

The information gathered from residents will be used to assess winter maintenance on roads in Fort McMurray and guide potential changes to strengthen and refine the program.
