Nominations for the Heart of Wood Buffalo Excellence Awards are now open!

FuseSocial and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo are excited to announce - nominations are now open for the 2020 Heart of Wood Buffalo Excellence Awards.

The Awards celebrate the excellence and achievements of the social profit sector through
leadership, capacity building and community innovation. Being the Heart of Wood Buffalo
means dedication and passion to improving the quality of life for Wood Buffalo and nominees
demonstrate these values.

The 2020 Heart of Wood Buffalo Awards also announce a collaboration with the Regional
Municipality of Wood Buffalo’s Mayor and Council. This collaboration will see the addition of
four new Council’s Excellence Awards that will expand the celebration to be regionally inclusive
and offer new opportunities for recognition. The Council’s Excellence Awards offer
opportunities to celebrate outstanding citizenship, remarkable youth, Indigenous advocates
and everyday heroes in our community.

“We’re excited to collaborate with FuseSocial in recognizing the incredible contributions of
Wood Buffalo’s outstanding community champions,” said Don Scott, Mayor of the Regional
Municipality of Wood Buffalo. “The Heart of Wood Buffalo Excellence Awards provide a special
opportunity to highlight the remarkable citizens who help make this a region we’re proud to
call home.”

The original six categories celebrated since 2011 at the Heart of Wood Buffalo Excellence
Awards include: Board Leadership, Executive Leadership, Community Impact, Social Prosperity
Leadership Award, Newcomer Engagement in memory of Lyle Leboldus, and Volunteering,
in honour of Bill Bloomfield. The four new Council’s Excellence Awards include: Citizen of the
Year, Youth Award, Indigenous Advocate Award, and Everyday Hero Award. The recipients of
these four new awards categories will be chosen by Mayor and Councillors of the Regional
Municipality of Wood Buffalo.

“At FuseSocial we believe in the need for active collaboration and partnership initiatives that
leverage resources and deliver enhanced benefits to all the people and communities
served. We are elated to be working with the Municipality this year to celebrate the hearts of
Wood Buffalo.” Chantal Beaver, Executive Director of FuseSocial.

and consist of a very simple online form. The 2020 Awards will be held on Monday, April 20th at
