RMWB council adopts Wood Buffalo Culture Plan

(Fort McMurray, AB – May 21, 2019) – The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo has committed to investing in art and heritage initiatives for the next ten years through the adoption of the Wood Buffalo Culture Plan. RMWB Council officially adopted the Plan on May 14, 2019, at the regularly scheduled Council meeting. The plan serves as a guiding document to support and enhance arts and heritage initiatives in the Municipality.

The RMWB 2018-2021 Strategic Plan identifies support for arts and culture. The Wood Buffalo Culture Plan identifies priorities and strategies to support a vibrant and sustainable community which enhances the quality of life for current and future residents.

“The Wood Buffalo Culture Plan sets the course for the future of arts and culture development in our region,” said Mayor Don Scott. “Culture plays a fundamental role in the community and contributes to the quality of life, reconciliation, and social, economic and environmental well-being. I look forward to local culture thriving in the decade ahead.” 

Municipal administration will work with the established community-based advisory committee to transition from the development phase to implementation and evaluation of the Wood Buffalo Culture Plan.
