RMWB takes steps to support owners of Hillview Park condominiums

(Fort McMurray, AB – November 5, 2018) – The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) is taking steps to support the residents affected by the Hillview Park condominium rebuild, including reaching out on their behalf to other levels of government.

A letter from Mayor Scott on behalf of RMWB Council has been sent to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Alberta Premier Rachel Notley updating them on the current situation facing the owners of the Hillview Park condominiums. This letter requests their respective governments review the matter with a goal of taking supportive action as soon as possible.

“We recognize some owners of these properties have gone through hardship and difficulty during the rebuild process. We have continually advocated to the Province, the insurance industry and others on residents’ behalf. We will continue to do so and urge those that have the legal authority and ability to act to help those that are most in need,” said Mayor Scott.

The RMWB will host a Here For You session on November 8, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Ballroom C at Shell Place at MacDonald Island Park. This session will focus on providing mental health resources and support for those who continue to feel the impacts of rebuilding.
