(Fort McMurray, AB – June 3, 2019) – The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) 2019 Conference took place in Quebec City from May 30-June 2, 2019. Members of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) Council in attendance included Mayor Don Scott, Councillor Mike Allen, Councillor Krista Balsom, Councillor Sheila Lalonde, Councillor Verna Murphy, Councillor Jeff Peddle and Councillor Claris Voyageur, as well as RMWB Chief Administrative Officer Annette Antoniak.

RMWB Council participated in several workshops, meetings with elected officials and other events at the annual conference, including hosting a hospitality suite in partnership with the Wood Buffalo Economic Development Corporation. The hospitality suite, designed to showcase Wood Buffalo for conference delegates, hosted 500 visitors from every Canadian province, as well as the Yukon.

“The FCM conference was a tremendous opportunity for us to share the story of Wood Buffalo, to advocate for Canadian energy, and to have critical conversations about the future,” said Scott. “We are grateful to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities for providing this opportunity, and we look forward to continued advocacy and dialogue as we seek to achieve the vision of a vibrant, sustainable region we are proud to call home.”
