Report highlights ideas for downtown revitalization community vision

Fort McMurray, AB – Jan. 16, 2019) – The Municipality welcomes residents to learn more about downtown revitalization by accessing the downtown revitalization public engagement summary report, now available at rmwb.ca/downtown.

The report summarizes the ideas, thoughts, input and feedback provided by engagement participants during a public engagement campaign in 2019. Overall, 24 public engagement sessions were held across the region, while over 100 one-on-one meetings took place with stakeholders, community organizations and individuals. Engagement sessions were also supported by a team of volunteer community ambassadors.

The information gathered from participants is being used to guide recommendations for next steps including identification of early actions for downtown revitalization. The Municipality again thanks the volunteer ambassadors and all residents that took time to participate in the sessions and meetings and through an online survey.

The report has been shared with both the Wood Buffalo Downtown Revitalization Advisory Committee and the Wood Buffalo Waterfront Advisory Committee for their consideration in developing recommendations. Both committees are comprised of residents representing a cross-section of sectors in the community.
