Restrictions in place for Snye access during WinterPLAY preparation

(Fort McMurray, AB – February 19, 2020) – While construction takes place on the Snye ice in preparation for the 2020 WinterPLAY Festival, access to Snye Point and the adjacent parking lot will be restricted as of Feb. 19. Boundaries are marked and monitored to ensure public safety.

The parking lot and Snye Point will be restricted to users until March 4, once all equipment for WinterPLAY has been removed.

During this time, access to the Clearwater River is available via the Raphael Cree Boat Launch and Tom Weber Boat Launch off Saline Creek Drive in Waterways.

WinterPLAY setup and site construction can be viewed from the upper east parking lot, at the end of Father Mercredi Street.

The 2020 WinterPLAY Festival takes place from February 28 – March 1, featuring a wide range of winter-themed activities including the Shootout on the Snye pond hockey tournament, WinterPLAYGROUND presented by United Rentals, live performers, talent show, snowshoeing, dog sled rides, petting zoo and more.
