Transit Services re-opens bus shelters throughout Fort McMurray

(Fort McMurray, AB – June 29, 2020) – Effective immediately, bus shelters are now open throughout Fort McMurray.

Buses will also now operate at full capacity; however, entry will continue to be from the rear door of the bus.

Community members using bus shelters are reminded to exercise caution and use these amenities responsibly.

Anyone using these spaces must follow public health guidelines, including:

  • Maintaining two metres of physical distance between others. If physical distancing is not possible, it is recommended you wear a face mask.
  • Staying home if you feel sick.
  • Washing your hands frequently.
  • Refraining from touching your face with unwashed hands.

Bus shelters are not sanitized. It’s recommended to use hand sanitizer with at least 60 per cent alcohol content.

While some bus shelters are currently open, crews are still working to open others. If closed signs are in place, we kindly ask that you respect these closures and be patient as crews work to re-open all shelters.

Transit Services will continue operating all services in Fort McMurray, including the SMART bus, on weekend schedules until further notice. All fares, including rural transit, have been waived to remove interactions between passengers and drivers.
