Update on Snye access during WinterPLAY preparation

(Fort McMurray, AB – February 12, 2019) – While construction continues to take place on the Snye ice in preparation for the 2019 WinterPLAY Festival, access to Snye Point and the adjacent parking lot will be restricted as of Feb. 14. Boundaries are marked and monitored to ensure public safety.

The parking lot and Snye Point will continue to be restricted to users until Feb. 27, once all equipment for WinterPLAY has been removed.

During this time access to the Clearwater River is available via the Raphael Cree Boat Launch and Tom Weber Boat Launch off Saline Creek Drive in Waterways.

People can enjoy watching the set up take place from the Upper East Parking Lot, at the end of Father Mercredi Street.

The 2019 WinterPLAY festival takes place from February 22 to 24, featuring a wide range of winter-themed activities including the Shootout on the Snye hockey tournament presented by Country 93.3 and ROCK 97.9, the United Rentals WinterPLAYGROUND, snowshoeing, dog sled rides, petting zoo and more.
