Wood Buffalo wins 5 Bloom Bronze in National Communities in Bloom competition

(Fort McMurray, AB – October 1, 2019) – Wood Buffalo has been awarded 5 Bloom Bronze, with a special mention for public art programs in parks, at the 2019 Communities in Bloom Symposium and Awards.

“Being awarded 5 Bloom Bronze is nothing less than a spectacular result,” said Joanne Fisher, Chair of the Wood Buffalo Communities in Bloom Committee. “It is proof that our municipality, our administration, and our Council are on the right path in building sustainable and environmentally conscious communities that will emerge as national and international leaders.”

Winners were announced at the 2019 National Symposium and Awards Ceremonies in Yarmouth, NS on September 25. The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo participated in the International Challenge Large category along with Barrie ON; Coquitlam BC; Halesowen UK; Lexington KY and Székesfehérvár Hungary.

Wood Buffalo Communities in Bloom is the local chapter of the national Communities in Bloom program. The 2020 National and International Communities in Bloom Symposium and Awards will be hosted in Fort McMurray in September 2020.
