Funding for athletes and performers
CIP also provides grant funding to local athletes and performers competing at a provincial, national or international level. Athletes or performers are encouraged to apply for funding from the Games Legacy Grant.
Typically, the grant application period happens in late summer and early fall for the upcoming year. Once applications are received, they're scored independently by a CIP review panel and funding recommendations are made to Council. Council will review all the applications and recommendations and award grant funding as part of the annual budget process.
The Games Legacy Grant was created using surplus monies from hosting the 1985 Alberta Summer Games, 1992 and 2018 Alberta Winter Games, 2003 Alberta Senior Games and 2004 Arctic Winter Games.
The application period for the 2021 Games Legacy Grant is now closed.
The applications will be reviewed, with Council grant approval tentatively scheduled for the end of December 2020. More details will be provided in the upcoming weeks.
