Face Covering Information

Face Coverings Mandatory on Public Transit
As of March 1, face coverings are still mandatory on public transit for residents who are 13 or older. In accordance with Step 2 of the phase-out of provincial health measures, mask mandates are still in place for continuing care centres and AHS-operated facilities. Continuous masking must be used for up to 5 days following mandatory isolation due to COVID infection for vaccinated individuals. Learn more at alberta.ca/covid19.

On June 22, 2021 Council voted to repeal the Face Covering Bylaw (No. 20/024), meaning this bylaw is no longer in effect, even if there are 50 or more cases of COVID-19 in the region.

However, at this time face coverings continue to be mandatory under the province-wide requirement. This means face coverings are still required:

  • On public transit
  • In AHS-operated and contracted facilities
  • In continuing care centres
  • Continuous masking must be used for up to 5 days following mandatory isolation due to COVID infection for vaccinated individuals.

Follow key health measures

Following key health measures plays an important part in preventing the spread of COVID-19. Please continue to do your part by:

  • Washing and sanitizing hands often
  • Practicing physical distancing
  • Staying home when sick
  • Getting vaccinated

Vaccine Information

The Government of Alberta’s Vaccine Program continues to be well underway.

Everyone 5+ can now get vaccinated. Children 5 to 11 must book online or by calling 811 as walk-ins are not available at this time.

Albertans 18+ are now eligible for a third dose if it has been 5 months since their second dose.

COVID-19 vaccines help prevent you from getting infected and protect you from getting severely sick if you do get COVID-19. All vaccines are safe, effective and save lives.

To learn more about the vaccine program or to book your appointment, visit alberta.ca/vaccine or call 811.
