6 Week Reconciliation Challenge

We're inviting all residents to join us in a 6 Week Reconciliation Challenge as we move towards The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30, 2021.

reconciliation challenge

With ongoing confirmations of terrible wrongs etched into the Indigenous experience, many Canadians have asked how they can help advance reconciliation.

An important step is to actively participate in learning. As such, information and activities will be offered every week to create better awareness of local Indigenous culture and history, the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action, Principles of Reconciliation and The United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).

In the coming days, more information will be provided through the RMWB Facebook and Twitter accounts on how to take part, or subscribe to this page for updates.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to actively participate in the Municipality’s 6 Week Reconciliation Challenge. Reconciliation is a lifelong commitment, but you took an important step forward by participating. Gift packages are available for those who participated to commemorate their efforts. They can be picked up outside, in front of the Jubilee building on Sept. 28-30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to reconciliation. And, while reconciliation is not something that can be achieved in six weeks, every journey begins with the first few steps – please join us in this journey of learning.

  • Sign the Reconciliation Pledge (share on social media using the hashtag  #RMWBpledgetoTRC
  • Explore new topics below. We'll add new topics every week of the challenge.
