Municipality encourages residents to volunteer to shovel snow this winter
Winter is coming, and the Municipality is looking for dedicated, outgoing and caring community members to become Snow Angels. Snow Angels volunteer to shovel the personal walkways and driveways of seniors’ homes in the community.
“Shoveling may seem like a small thing, but it makes a big difference for seniors,” said Steve Andrejiw, Social Program Advisor with Culture and Social Development. “Taking a few minutes to clear snow from a senior’s driveway and walkway, helps ensure they can safely access their home, while creating opportunities to connect with neighbours and build a stronger community.”
Shovels and ice scrapers are provided by the Municipality and delivered to volunteers by Municipal staff.
