(Fort McMurray, AB – July 29, 2024) – Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo residents know first-hand what it’s like to experience the lasting impacts of wildfire. As fellow Albertans let’s come together and show our support for Jasper by creating messages of hope and encouragement for everyone who is currently displaced or impacted.
“We know all too well how devastating wildfires are -- and when we were in our time of need, communities across Alberta and beyond stood with us. Now it’s our turn to make their days a little brighter and show our support,” says Mayor Sandy Bowman. “Please take a few minutes to share a message of hope with us so we can collectively let residents of Jasper know the RMWB is rooting for them.”
Starting today, individuals, families, organizations and businesses can submit short video messages or handmade drawings for the Municipality to share with Jasper residents. The video and drawings will also be shared with RMWB residents through our social media channels when available.
Video message: Deadline August 5
- One sentence that demonstrates care or optimism
- Video can only be 5-10 seconds long
- Record as landscape (sideways) orientation
- Try to reduce background noise
- Submissions should be in MP4 format
- Upload your video to rmwb.ca/jasper
Handmade drawings: Deadline August 11
We are also looking for handmade drawings to use as part of a fence banner that will hang in the rebuild areas in Jasper. The RMWB is providing the coloured paper which is available at various locations in the region and at all municipal offices. It’s important for everyone to use the same paper for a consistent look and feel for the wrap.
