Changes to the Community Investment Program
On July 11, Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo Council approved the updated Community Investment Program Policy FIN-220. The updated policy will continue to provide financial support to community groups and organizations, while increasing efficiencies, eliminating duplication of services and ensuring grant approvals reflect strategic priorities set by Council.
As part of the annual operating and capital budget in early December, Council will set a budget for CIP grants. Administration will review and score grant applications, presenting finalized grant recommendations to the approval committee. The committee will review scored applications and approve grants with decision letters and grant agreements shared with applicants by end of January 2024.

On Sept. 12, Council set the following CIP strategic funding priorities for 2024:
- Partnership and collaboration

- Social participation
- Community support services and wellness
- Value of culture, heritage and regional pride
