Board to provide recommendations to enhance economy and tourism, streamline operations and more
A new Board of Directors of the Wood Buffalo Economic Development Corporation (WBEDC) was appointed by Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo Council on Dec. 10.
This board oversees the work of Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo Economic Development & Tourism and will have an updated mandate to oversee the strategic direction, operations and financial governance of the organization.
The WBEDC Board members approved by Council are Chris Wilson, Doug Golosky, Kunle Oladebo, Erica Dunbar, Miranda Beaton, Kevin Courtorielle, Melanie Antoine, and Terrence Cooper. Councillors Kendrick Cardinal and Keith McGrath, and Chief Administrative Officer Henry Hunter will also join the new members as directors of the board.
The new board members bring expertise in many areas and will be tasked with finding ways to enhance economic and tourism growth, streamline operations, improve service delivery and reduce costs. Work will begin in the coming weeks, with recommendations expected within 90 days of being appointed.
