Apply to join the Mayor’s Advisory Council on Youth by Aug. 18
Students entering grades 9 to 12 in September are encouraged to apply for the Mayor’s Advisory Council on Youth (MACOY) this summer.
Made up of 26 students from across the region, MACOY members work closely with community leaders, participate in meaningful volunteer work and support community events throughout the year.
“Joining MACOY is a great way to get involved with the community and the work being done at the Municipality,” said Mayor Sandy Bowman. “We encourage interested students to apply and to consider how they can best represent youth perspectives while making a difference to those around them.”
Past MACOY projects and activities
Whether looking to stand out in your post-secondary application or ready to work on a passion project with other like-minded individuals, there are lots of reasons to join MACOY.
Past projects and activities have included:
- Engaging with rural youth in Anzac, Conklin, Fort McKay and Janvier.
- Visiting key municipal facilities, such as the Wastewater Treatment Plant and Regional Emergency Coordination Centre.
- Touring Keyano College to learn more about what it has to offer local students.
- Providing youth input to the RMWB Transit Master Plan.
