Fire ban in effect; dry conditions increasing wildfire risk
(Fort McMurray, AB – May 4, 2023) – The Evacuation Alert for Anzac, Gregoire Lake Estates and Fort McMurray First Nation #468 is no longer in effect.
Alberta Wildfire have continued with air and ground suppression, and wildfire MWF-009 is not growing in size and is classified as being held.

Fire Ban in effect for most of region
A fire ban is in effect for most of the Wood Buffalo region. The fire ban includes all outside fires, including open campfires, fires in a portable or fixed fire pit (including backyard fire pits). Charcoal barbeques and fireworks are also not allowed.
CSA approved propane and natural gas appliances like fire tables and barbeques are permitted for use.
The dry conditions, warming temperatures and forecasted periods of high winds continue to elevate the wildfire risk. Everyone must use caution when working or enjoying the outdoors during this time, particularly OHV users.
