Fall in love with winter at WinterPLAY - Feb. 24 to March 5

Shootout on the Snye, skating, dog sled rides, horse drawn wagon rides, ice sculptures, fireworks and more!

 You’re invited to join the WinterPLAY fun Feb. 24 to March 5 at the Snye and Borealis Park. There will be lots of exciting, outdoor activities to enjoy with your family, friends and neighbours.

Event hours:

  • Feb. 24 – 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Feb. 25 to March 4 - 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • March 5 – 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Free activities for family and friends to enjoy

There are so many unique things to see and do at WinterPLAY! A variety of local food options will be available in the Snack Shack and there will be lots of fun, free activities to enjoy, including:  

  • Shootout on the Snye
    • Kicks off at 6 p.m. Feb. 24 and runs until Feb. 26
    • Leisure skating on the Snye and Borealis Pond
    • Dog sled rides
    • Horse drawn wagon rides
    • Ice sculptures
    • Fireworks
      • Feb. 24 at 7:45 p.m.
      • March 4 at 7:45 p.m.

All activities are first come, first serve except for leisure ice skating. The ice rinks located on the Snye must be booked for leisure skating and will be available from Feb. 27 to March 5, after the Shootout on the Snye is finished. Borealis Pond does not need to be booked and is open throughout the event for leisure ice skating.

Booking options for ice rinks will be available online Tuesday, Feb. 21 at noon, visit rmwb.ca/WinterPLAY.

Attend the fireworks on March 4 as a V.I.P.

Enter to win a skate under the fireworks on Saturday, March 4 at 7:45 p.m. Complete the online entry form for a chance to have an ice surface on the Snye reserved from 6-8 p.m. during the fireworks at rmwb.ca/WinterPLAY.

Entry opens: Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 12 p. m.

Participants will be selected through a random draw and notified by phone.

Snye closures and construction

As event construction for WinterPLAY continues, please be advised of the following:

  • Access to the lower parking lot at Snye Park will be restricted from Feb. 13-March 10.
  • Access to the Clearwater River and Snye Point is available throughout the event except for Feb. 24 and March 4. Due to the scheduled firework shows on these days, access to Snye Point will be closed.
  • The best way to access the Clearwater River is via the Raphael Cree Boat Launch and Tom Weber Boat Launch off Saline Creek Drive in Waterways.

Please continue to use caution, follow all posted signage, and stay clear of barricaded areas, construction crews and equipment. Construction areas are clearly marked and monitored to ensure public safety.
