Volunteers and food vendors needed for WinterPLAY, Feb. 23 to March 3
(Fort McMurray, AB – Jan. 15, 2024) – WinterPLAY organizers are seeking volunteer support from local community organizations and groups, as well as vendors to provide food during this upcoming 10-day winter festival at the Snye.
Volunteer during WinterPLAY for fundraising support
Groups fundraising for a local social profit are eligible to apply for general event support and referee opportunities. Groups will receive $500 per shift.
General event support duties could include:
- Green team: Ensure the site is clean and free of garbage.
- Firewatch: Tend to the community bonfire to ensure its safe operation.
- Site supervision: Monitor areas of the event site (i.e., public ice slides).
- Activity support: Provide support to site activities (i.e., horse-drawn wagon rides, community rinks, etc.)
- Firework event support: Keep the site clean and direct the public during firework events.
Referee duties could include:
- Verify players on each team.
- Support with timekeeping and scorekeeping.
Bring your business to the WinterPLAY Snack Shack
Four heated tents are available for local commercial or social profit organizations to provide food sales during WinterPLAY.
Complete an application to let organizers know your availability and what food items you can serve. Suitable vendors will be contacted by Feb. 2.

This edition of WinterPLAY is going to be bigger than ever before! Not only are we bringing back your favourite activities (such as Shootout on the Snye, horse-drawn wagon rides, dog sledding, fireworks and more), WinterPLAY 2024 will also bring Barbegazi to our region for the first time!
Barbegazi includes fun, family-friendly and unique winter activities for all to enjoy. Visit WinterPLAY 2024 to watch sled demonstrations and try out human curling, fat bike racing, snow skating and foam ball sling shot.
