Professional growth and networking opportunities
Joining a board or committee is a great opportunity for professional growth and to gain valuable experience in municipal government. Members work alongside other community leaders and help advise Mayor and Councillors on important decisions and matters that impact your community.
For example, the Public Art Committee was instrumental in bringing the Wood Buffalo Mural Fest to the region. The Advisory Committee on Aging received the Alberta Age-Friendly Recognition Award in 2024 for its progress implementing the Wood Buffalo Age-Friendly Work Plan, making structures and services more accessible and inclusive for seniors.
