Floats and walking groups needed for the parade – register today!
Family, friends, and neighbours, get ready to line the sidewalks of Franklin Avenue with red, white and orange to enjoy the Canada Day Parade on July 1 at 10:30 a.m.
The parade will travel down Franklin Ave., beginning on Riedel St. and ending on Main St. with a calmer, sensory-friendly parade experience. There will be more free family events and activities happening on Canada Day. Keep an eye out for updates from MacDonald Island Park and other community organizations.
Register a float today!
Canada Day is an opportunity for the community to come together, and parade floats and walking groups are needed to make this happen. It is also a great opportunity for local businesses, non-profits, teams and groups to showcase their community spirit while making new connections with the people that call Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo home.
The deadline to register to join the parade is June 19 by 4 p.m. Find all the registration details at rmwb.ca/CanadaDay.
Fundraise for your organization or group at the parade
Community organizations and groups, we need your support to make this event a success! There are eight fundraising opportunities available for local non-profit community organizations and groups.

Help move reconciliation forward
Let's celebrate Canada Day in a way that unites us as a community. Take time to reflect on Canada’s shared history and the future we want to build together.
Acknowledge with gratitude that the land on which we live, work and play is Treaty 8 territory, the traditional and ancestral land of the Cree, Dene and the unceded territory of the Métis.
You can help move reconciliation forward in the region by:
- Taking time to listen and learn from Elders and Knowledge Keepers.
- Participating in community events and programs that honour, celebrate and share rich Indigenous cultures.
- Reading and reflecting on the Truth and Reconciliation report and the 94 Calls to Action.
- Taking the free online Indigenous Learning Series.
- Signing up for the It’s Time to Read Book Club to learn more about Indigenous history, culture and local Indigenous communities.
