
(Fort McMurray, AB – January 14, 2022) – The Municipality is accepting applications for volunteers with knowledge and experience in specific sectors to serve on four Council-appointed advisory committees and boards.
Residents who meet the application requirements and who are looking to get involved and take part in decisions affecting their community are encouraged to apply.
The Municipality is recruiting for specific positions on the following committees:
The Advisory Committee on Aging: The Advisory Committee on Aging's mandate is to gather public input and make strategic recommendations to Council regarding service delivery for seniors. Two specific positions are being recruited for:
- Indigenous Representative
- Public At Large – Rural Representative
Wood Buffalo Development Advisory Committee: The Committee advises municipal administration and Council on local development initiatives, including development and construction issues, community-based issues, public engagement activities and region-wide economic priorities. Two specific positions are being recruited for:
- Health and Wellness Sector
- Oil and Gas Sector Public At Large
Wood Buffalo Downtown Revitalization Advisory Committee: The Committee makes recommendations to Council on matters relating to downtown revitalization and provides a timely and considered response to Council to all downtown revitalization matters referred to the board.
- One Indigenous Representative is being recruited for this Committee
Wood Buffalo Housing Development Corporation Board: The Wood Buffalo Housing Development Corporation (WBH) is a not-for-profit, arm’s length Part 9 subsidiary of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. It collaborates with many stakeholders, including tenants, community groups, non-profits, industry and government to pursue safe and sustainable housing solutions for all residents of our community, providing housing options for every level of need, including individuals, families and seniors.
