Motorists are reminded to drive to conditions and follow all posted signage
(Fort McMurray, AB – April 6, 2021) – Beginning April 7, load limits on gravel roads are being lowered to 75% of the Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), until further notice.
Gravel roads with load limits
The load limit applies to these gravel roads:
- West Road, Conklin
- Stoney Mountain Crossover, Cheecham Hills
- Tower Road, Fort McMurray
- Aostra Road, West of Suncor off Hwy 63
- Draper Road, Draper
Follow all posted signage
In addition to load limits, there may be other safety measures in place on gravel roads, such as reduced axel weights, due to seasonal conditions.
For everyone’s safety and to preserve the lifespan of gravel roads, motorists are reminded to follow all posted signage and drive to conditions.
Gross Vehicle Weight
Gross vehicle weight (GVW) refers to the licensed maximum weight of the vehicle as per the vehicle’s certificate of registration. GVW includes the weight of trailers and cargo.
