New Thickwood bus terminal opens Dec. 27

Email icon Back to News

The new Thickwood bus terminal on Thickwood Blvd in front of the Casman Centre will open for public use on Dec. 27. All transit routes with active detours in place to accommodate the construction of the terminal, will resume regular routing from the Thickwood Terminal once it becomes operational on Dec. 27.

Transit routes using the Thickwood station as a transfer point will resume regular routing and begin using the Thickwood Terminal instead. The following transit routes will be affected:

  • Route 12
  • Route 16
  • Route 51
  • Route 61

Transit route 12 will still service the Thickwood station as part of the regular routing. All transit schedules and service alerts are posted online at rmwb.ca/transit.

The Thickwood and Timberlea bus terminals have been fully funded through federal and provincial grant funding

The new bus terminals will enhance routing, transfers, and connections on the north side of the Athabasca Bridge. Learn more about the project at rmwb.ca/construction.

Updated transit fares take effect Jan. 1, 2020.

Starting Jan. 1, 2020, a bus ride in Fort McMurray will cost a $1.50, with other transit fares in the urban area being updated to reflect this change. Rural transit fares have not been adjusted and will remain the same.
