Regional Emergency Services (RES) firefighters and other emergency personnel responded to a house fire on Diefenbaker Drive shortly after 4 a.m. today.
Two pumper crews and a ladder unit responded, with the first crews on the scene reporting an active fire in an upstairs bedroom. Residents of the two-storey home had safely escaped, and firefighters noted that smoke alarms were going off throughout the building.
Firefighters directly attacked the fire and were able to quickly bring it under control. Crews remained on scene until after 5:30 a.m.
The most significant fire damage was limited to a bedroom and closet, but there was considerable water and smoke damage throughout the structure.
Fire investigators are working to determine what caused the fire.
