The Snye came alive with the sights and sounds of WinterPLAY Feb. 25-March 6 as family, friends and neighbours came together to enjoy free activities and celebrate the winter season. Whether it was an exhilarating dog sled ride, a fun hockey game with friends, a stroll to view the incredible ice sculptures, or taking in the magical firework shows, memories were made.
Event Highlights
- The 26 Ice Sculptures along the Snye boardwalk presented by United Rentals featured several Indigenous inspired pieces, a well-placed float plane, a dog sled, a tiger welcoming Chinese New Year, and more! All equaling 21.6 tons of ice
- Two ice slides enjoyed by hundreds of children
- 350 dog sled rides and 372 horse wagon rides
- Two 20-minute musical fireworks shows
- Eight skating rinks with hundreds of bookings
- Seven corporate partners (United Rentals, A1 Portables, Burnco Rock Products, AlumaSafeway, Tridon Communications, ACDEN Environment and Culligan Water)

While WinterPLAY is over, community members are reminded that there are local activities available to continue to enjoy the winter season.
