
Transit service expanded in Stone Creek. New stops and updated timings for certain routes. No changes to special school routes.
Updates are being made to certain Transit routes to better serve the needs of riders, the Willow Square Continuing Care Centre and the community. All updates to Transit routes take effect Friday, Aug. 27.
Transit routes and schedules being updated
All updated Transit routes and schedules are available on the Municipal website. Riders are encouraged to review the updated routes and plan ahead before the changes take effect Aug. 27.
Changes have been made to the following Transit routes:
Expanded Transit service in Stone Creek
- A new Transit Route 42 has been created to better service the Stone Creek neighbourhood.
- The new route includes stops that were previously serviced from Transit Route 17. Changes have been made to Route 17 and this route no longer services Stone Creek.
- Route 15 has been adjusted to include service in Stone Creek.
All special school Transit routes remain in place
Transit Services is looking forward to welcoming students back as special school Transit routes begin Sept. 7. All special school routes from the 2020-21 school year remain in place, with no changes being made. However, there have been changes made to regular transit routes that previously stopped at Fort McMurray Composite High School and Holy Trinity Catholic High School.

Transit fares being reinstated Aug. 30
Effective Monday, Aug. 30, fares for all transit services are being reinstated, including fares for rural transit and the SMART bus. The cash fare per ride in Fort McMurray is $1.50. Adult and student passes are available as well as ride sheets. Transit service for seniors 65+ and children under 5 remains free.

Face coverings still required on public transit
The Provincial face covering requirement for public transit remains in effect. Riders are reminded to do their part to keep public transit safe by wearing a mask and continuing to practice physical distancing.
The Municipality continues to follow the public health orders and guidelines established by Alberta Health Services and Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Find more information at alberta.ca/covid19
