Municipal Underground Services’ crews have successfully isolated and repaired the leak in the water distribution system in Fort McKay. Water has been restored to the impacted residences. A Boil Water Advisory remains in effect.
Residents are asked to run their taps for 15 minutes. Water may be discoloured and sediment may be present at first. Residences impacted by this boil water advisory are those along and east of the Fort McKay Road, and consists of approximately 100 homes.
Earlier today, Indigenous Services Canada and Alberta Health Services issued Boil Water Advisories. These advisories can be found here. Prior to the Boil Water Advisory being lifted, the repair must be completed, flushing of the distribution system must take place, and water testing and sampling must be satisfactory for Alberta Health Services and Indigenous Services Canada.
Fort McKay First Nation is providing a temporary water supply to the community, which is available at the Band Office.
