Complete the survey and other online engagement activities until July 9
The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) wants to know where do we go with Transit Services in the region? Community members are encouraged to share their thoughts, needs and vision for public transit by completing a survey and participating in other online engagement activities until July 9.
“Our goal is to provide safe, reliable, and affordable public transportation options that work for residents and our community,” said Keith Smith, Director, Public Works. “Hearing from Transit riders, community members and partners, helps us better understand transportation needs, collect feedback on the existing program and continue to make improvements to Transit Services.”
Transit Master Plan
All feedback collected is being used to develop a Transit Master Plan, which will provide recommendations and a roadmap to guide all aspects of Transit Services over the next 5-10 years.
Dillon Consulting is leading the development of the Transit Master Plan, including the public engagement. Council approved the Transit Masterplan as part of Budget 2020.
Workshops and stakeholder meetings
In addition to the survey and online engagement opportunities, targeted workshops and meetings are being held with stakeholders and community partners in Fort McMurray and the rural communities. A Transit employee survey is also being done.
“Developing a Transit Masterplan and having baseline data will help us make the right choices for Transit Services in Wood Buffalo,” said Joel Trudell, Senior Manager, Transportation and Facilities. “Hosting workshops and meetings with riders, community partners and staff in both urban and rural areas keeps us moving in the right direction.”
