Keep streets clear and prevent delays by removing collection bins from the curb
Subzones 3 and 4 will be active for snow removal operations Jan. 6-10, with on-street parking restrictions in effect. Snow removal operations take longer to complete as it involves loading snow into haul trucks and taking it to a snow disposal site.
Subzones 1 and 2 are relaxed. While the subzones are relaxed, on-street parking restrictions are not in effect and vehicles may park on the street. Subzones 1 and 2 are expected to activate for the week of Jan. 13-17 as subzones are typically activated on a bi-weekly schedule.
Watch out for no parking signs
Crews are continuing to clear and remove snow on primary, secondary and tertiary streets. Temporary no parking signs will be placed 24 hours in advance where snow removal is scheduled on streets not included in the WMZ program. After 24 hours, on-street parking restrictions will be in effect and parked vehicles must be removed from the street until the signs are taken away.
Remove collection bins from the curb
Keep streets clear for snowplows and equipment to plow and remove snow and prevent snow clearing delays. Curbside collection bins must be removed from the street the same day they are picked up.
Driveways and sidewalks
The removal of snow from sidewalks and driveways is the responsibility of residents in the adjacent home and needs to be completed within 48 hours after a snowfall. Help keep your neighbours and our crews moving this season and shovel snow onto yards and greenspaces dividing driveways. Snow should never be shoveled back onto the street.
Winter Maintenance Zone reminders
- Every residential street in Fort McMurray has been assigned a subzone and one designated weekday for maintenance. You can find this information on posted street signage or by using the Find Your Zone tool.
- For the weeks when your subzone is active, on-street parking restrictions are in effect from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. only on your one designated day for maintenance.
- For everyone’s safety, please do not approach equipment on the roadway and give space to crews where maintenance is happening.
