Yard waste will be picked up on a bi-weekly schedule, the same days your dark blue recycling bin is collected
Summer is right around the corner and it’s time to start cleaning your yard!
Starting April 30, yard waste will be picked up on your dark blue bin (tin and plastic recycling) collection days. Yard waste will be collected every two weeks and will not be picked up on your light blue bin (paper recycling) collection days.
All yard waste must be in brown paper bags and beside your bins before 7:30 a.m. Please do not place brown paper bags on the curb ahead of your yard waste collection day.
Yard waste collection schedule
Yard waste will be picked on your regular curbside collection day the weeks of:
- April 30 – May 3
- May 14 – 17
- May 28 – 31
- June 11 – 14
- June 25 – 28
- Continuing every other week until the end of the season.
Accepted materials
The following materials can go in your brown paper yard waste bags:
- Grass clippings
- Leaves
- Flowers
- Weeds
- Culled plants
- Small twigs less than 30 centimetres (12 inches) long
Not accepted in brown paper bags
The following materials cannot go in your brown paper yard waste bags:
- Kitchen food scraps
- Pet waste
- Dirt, rocks and gravel
- Non-organic garden waste such as broken plant pots, plastic sheeting and metal stakes
- Commercial yard waste
- Plastic and compostable bags
Free yard waste drop-off at the landfill
Yard waste can also be dropped off for free at the municipal landfill year-round, seven days a week from 8:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. All yard waste dropped at the landfill must also be in brown paper bags and be under 50 pounds per bag in order to be free.
