Each year, the Municipality flushes the fire hydrants in the Urban Service Area. This is part of a preventative maintenance program to ensure that local drinking water is of the highest quality. It also ensures that the hydrants are in good working condition for emergencies.
Schedule
Hydrant flushing takes place annually from April to September, weather permitting. If you have questions about hydrant flushing, please contact Pulse.
Impact to residents
Hydrant flushing happens Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. During flushing, your water service will not be interrupted but you may notice a fluctuation in pressure. If you happen to notice slight discolouration, run the cold tap for about 15 minutes. If the discolouration continues after that, please contact Pulse.
Impact to environment
Flushed water is discharged to the storm water system. It is dechlorinated so there is no harmful impact to the environment.
