Fee For Service

Do you love parades and want the best seat in the house this Canada Day?
We're looking for 20 barricade monitors for July 1st.
This is a great opportunity for three organizations to be awarded $1100 for providing 20 monitors.

The Details :
•The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (Public Works Department) is now recruiting Barricade Monitors for the Canada Day Parade that will be held on Monday, July 1, 2019.
Parade organizers are offering three local non-profit organizations an opportunity through a Fee for Service and we are reaching out to you/your group to assist in making the 2019 Canada Day Festivities a huge success.
This opportunity is for 20 Barricade Monitors and the organization will receive $1100 for their service. Should the group decide to bring more than the required 20 individuals for support, the compensation will remain at $1100.
The group MUST meet the minimum number of individuals required for each Fee for Service opportunity.
Please note the following requirements regarding the role(s) of Barricade Monitors:
•The responsibility of Barricade Monitors is to oversee temporary road closure(s) at secondary intersections. Road closures will align with the Canada Day Parade timeline. Responsibilities include proper placement of appropriate barricades at these intersections along the parade route. Businesses and/or neighbours affected by the street/road closure(s) are given accurate information regarding the parade.
•Road closure locations must be monitored by an adult (18+)
•Barricade Monitors are required to wear reflective material (provided) for maximum visibility to both spectators and parade participants.
•You/your group will be responsible to assign a group leader. The leader, along with Public Works staff, will train and organize all members of the group.
•All leaders and Barricade Monitors will report to the Registration Tent at no later than 8:30 am on Monday, July 1, 2019.
•Each individual is responsible for dressing appropriately for the weather.  Your safety and comfort is important to us.

Time Commitment:

All shifts are 8:30 am to approximately 12:00 pm on Monday, July 1, 2019.  Exact location to be determined by parade organizers and law enforcement. All group leaders will be required to meet with Alanna Bottrell once their group is confirmed, prior to July 1, in order to receive all registration and training information. It is mandatory that all barricade monitors register for a specific barricade and fill out an online waiver form, provided once the opportunities are confirmed.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Alanna Bottrell at Alanna.Bottrell@RMWB.ca or phone 780-792-5968
