The Fort McMurray Urban Market is back for our seventh season! This summer, join us at Jubilee Plaza and shop for a wide variety of market goods including fresh produce, free-range meats, bakery items, gifts and more.

2019 Market Schedule

All Fort McMurray Urban Market dates will take place on the following Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
This year each market has an overall theme. 

  • June 12 - Opening Market
  • June 19 - Arts
  • June 26 - Nature
  • July 10 - Sports
  • July 17 - Pets
  • July 24 - YMM Block Bash
  • July 31 - Kids
  • August 14 - Vocal about Local
  • August 21 - Personal Best
  • August 28 - End of Summer

The Fort McMurray Urban Market is an Alberta Approved Farmers Market, which means that 80 per cent of the market's vendors make, bake or grow their products in Alberta.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO BE A VENDOR?
The Fort McMurray Urban Market is an Approved Alberta Farmers’ Market and, as such, 80% of the product mix at the market must be made, baked or grown within the province of Alberta.

 WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER 20%?
The Urban Market team has full discretion to determine the eligibility of the other 20%.
Priority will be given to:
Out-of-province farmers or seafood re-sellers
Made, baked or grown products outside of Alberta
RMWB original business (one of a kind to the area)

WHAT PRODUCTS/VENDOR ARE NOT ELIGIBLE?
Used or flea market products
Chain or franchise establishments
Networking marketing companies (online/catalog sale)

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?
Application package
Business insurance (see below on how to get insurance)
The necessary equipment (see below on what is required)\
Stall fee paid in full before start of the market 

HOW MUCH ARE THE STALL FEES?
10x10 stall fee is $35 plus tax per stall, per market.
Truck stall fee is $70 plus tax per stall, per market.

 WHERE DO I GET INSURANCE?
Speak to your insurance provider to see if your business is already covered for this type of event. The Alberta Farmers Market Association also offers reasonable insurance rates to members.
Daily Market insurance is available through the Fort McMurray Urban Market.  This option is available to purchase for $23 plus GST per market.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
 A 10’ x 10’ commercial grade tent
 Weights (25-50lbs per tent leg)
 Folding table(s) and/or displays
 Chair(s)
 Signage with business name

CAN I RENT A TENT?
Yes, we offer tent rentals at a rate of $50 plus GST per market. They are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and limited to one per vendor per market.

DO I HAVE TO SIGN UP FOR ALL THE MARKETS?
No, vendors can sign up for any number of markets based on their availability; however, priority will be given to vendors that commit to the entire season.

WHAT DOES THE MARKET THEME MEAN?
Market themes are a fun way to incorporate a variety of activities, showcase local groups and encourage new vendors!

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE SPONSORSHIPS?
The purpose of these sponsorships is to allow local vendors the opportunity to test their products at the market without having to put forward the financial investment for the required equipment and insurance. It is also to encourage a diverse range of vendors to test the market. 

WHAT SPONSORSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE TO ME?
There are three opportunities for sponsorship at the 2019 Fort McMurray Urban Market.
Small Business Tent presented by Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce ➢ The purpose of this of this sponsorship is to encourage smaller, start-up vendors to participate.
Kids at the Market presented by Seller Direct Fort McMurray ➢ The purpose of this of this sponsorship is to encourage youth vendors to participate.
Aboriginal Tent presented by Nistawoyou Friendship Centre ➢ The purpose of this of this sponsorship is to encourage aboriginal vendors and entertainers to participate.

WHAT DO THE SPONSORSHIPS COVER?
Booth rental
Tent rental (includes: 10x10 pop-up tent, 4 weights, 6’ table & chair)
The vendor is required to provide their own insurance for the day. See Insurance FAQ above.
