Yard Waste Collection

Yard waste curbside collection

Yard waste curbside collection has now started, and will continue each week until fall.

This year, in response to COVID-19, residents are required to put un-bagged yard waste inside of the dark blue collection bin. Brown paper bags may be used and placed inside the dark blue bin. This helps prevent collection crews from having to physically handle the bags and bins.

Crews will collect one bin (dark blue) of yard waste per week, along with two bins (black and light blue) of bagged mixed garbage and recycling material per week.

Please ensure all bins are put out to the curb by 7:30 a.m. on the morning of your collection day.

Items that CAN go in the yard waste bin:

  • grass clippings
  • leaves
  • flowers
  • weeds
  • plants
  • small twigs and sticks (less than 30 cm long)

Items that CANNOT go in the yard waste bin:

  • kitchen food scraps
  • pet waste
  • non-organic garden waste such as broken plant pots
  • Commercial yard waste
  • Plastic and compostable plastic bags

Yard waste on municipal property

Residents are reminded it is not permitted to dump yard trimmings on to municipal property, like parks or public utility lots (PUL).
