Dec. 3 Budget Session Cancelled

At the conclusion of  scheduled budget presentations Friday, Dec. 2, Council called for Public Delegations  and reconvened the Special Council Meeting for debate on motions. Therefore, the  session originally scheduled for Public Delegations and debate Saturday, Dec. 3, is no longer required.

Beginning with its June 14 session, Council of the Regional Municipality resumed meeting in Chambers at Jubilee Centre, Fort McMurray. Regular meetings are held each Tuesday, excluding any fifth Tuesday of a month and statutory holidays.

Councillors also meet in six standing committees of Council: the Audit Committee, the Land Planning and Transportation Committee, the Oversight Committee, the Rural Committee, the Selection Committee and the Sustainable Development Committee.

Following the May 2016 wildfire, the Wood Buffalo Recovery Committee was created by Council to provide policy and governance oversight for residents in the recovery and rebuilding of the community.

Agendas and minutes for the meetings of Council and these committees can be found below. Except for in-camera items, the meetings are open to the public.

Individuals or groups wanting to be placed on the agenda at a Council meeting must submit either a letter or a Presentation Request Form outlining the subject matter to be discussed. Learn more about this process.
