The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is the proud host region for the 2015 Western Canada Summer Games. With open arms we welcome all visitors and wish the best of luck to all competing athletes.
From August 7 to 16, 2015, over 14,000 spectators, coaches, officials, media, and residents of Wood Buffalo will be cheering on thousands of young athletes from Western Canada and the territories as they compete for the gold. The 10 days of the Games will also include a festival featuring guest artists, musicians, art displays and cultural performances. We encourage you to get involved as we make history in our region. You too are part of our northern story.

Games Bring Changes to Some Transit Routes
- The Western Canada Summer Games' road cycling events are expected to cause delays for transit routes in Timberlea and Thickwood, where the racing will mean partial road closures Saturday, Aug. 8, and Sunday, Aug. 9. Traffic will likely be moving slower from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday and from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday
- From Friday, Aug. 7, until the end of the Western Canada Summer Games Sunday, Aug. 16, Route 91 (Downtown East) will detour to service the Visitor’s Village, located on Prairie Loop Boulevard at the foot of King Street. Route 91 buses will reach the Visitor's Village by travelling Prairie Loop Boulevard between its intersections with Franklin Avenue and King Street.
