History & Location

Draper is a small rural neighbourhood located just 12 kilometres southeast of Fort McMurray along the banks of the Clearwater River. Established in the early 20th century, it’s named after Thomas Draper, who once operated a sawmill in the area. The community’s historical connection to forestry and homesteading continues to shape its identity.
