Changes to user fees, rates and charges are now in effect
While most rates remain unchanged, a number of municipal services will see adjustments.
Through the federal government’s Homelessness Reduction Innovation Fund (HRIF), the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness (CAEH) contributed $367,296 to the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB). This funding will go to the Salvation Army to hire two temporary positions, including a homelessness prevention coordinator and a rent bank program specialist to support its Homelessness Prevention Project.
Starting on Friday, the Fort Chipewyan Winter Road and La Loche Winter Trail load limits are reducing to 5,000 kg for passenger vehicles, before closing for the season on Tuesday, April 7.

TAKE NOTICE, that the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board for the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo has received an appeal against a Development Officer’s Refusal of Development Permit No. 2025-DP-00399, an application for a Sea-can, at the property known as Lot 2A, Block 32, Plan 8520960, being 380 Silin Forest Road, Fort McMurray, Alberta. An appeal hearing has been scheduled to occur on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at 6:00 p.m.
In accordance with section 70 of the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act,
Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo has been issued with an amendment approval by
Environment and Protected Areas for the Anzac Wastewater System under EPEA
Approval No. 322842-00-00. This amendment approval is to extend the expiry date of
the EPEA Approval No. 3228420-00-00 for a year. The Anzac wastewater system is in
the process of decommissioning and reclamation. The Anzac wastewater treatment
plant is located at SE ¼ of 04-086-07W4M.
The Street Banner Program offers residents 12 years and older to submit their artwork that goes with the theme: Everyday Heroes, Local Legends.
