Evacuation Alert: Conklin

Email icon Back to News
Evacuation Alert - Conklin

Everyone in Conklin should be ready to leave on short notice.

An Evacuation Alert has been issued for Conklin due to the potential of the nearby wildfire LWF090 spreading towards the community. If you are in the Conklin area stay alert and follow instructions from emergency officials.

At this time an Evacuation Order has not been issued. This is an alert/warning for residents in the affected area to be ready to leave on short notice.

The Municipality is working closely with Alberta Wildfire, Conklin Resource Development Advisory Committee (CRDAC), industry and other partners to monitor the situation and protect the community.

Everyone in Conklin is advised to:

  • Prepare an emergency kit with everything you’d need to support yourself, your family, and your pets
  • Make an emergency plan
  • Move anything that can burn at least 1.5 metres away from your home and propane tanks and woodpiles at least 10 metres away
  • Close all windows. Move all unused patio furniture to a shed or safe storage
  • Take other steps to prepare households and properties. View more FireSmart tips at home
  • Contact your tenants and/or home insurance representative about the specifics of your policy.

Register now

Be prepared. Register your family now through the MyAlberta Emergency Registration System (MAERS)

Emergency supports will be provided if an Evacuation Order issued

As this is an Evacuation Alert/warning, there are no emergency supports available from the Municipality at this time. Anyone choosing to leave Conklin now, is responsible for coordinating their own accommodations, food and all arrangements.

If an Evacuation Order is issued and community members must leave the Conklin area, the Municipality will provide emergency accommodations and transportation. To receive Municipal emergency supports, evacuees must register in-person at a Registration Centre. Additional details on the emergency supports available will be shared if an Evacuation Order is issued.
