Before April 1, 2026, applications can be submitted free of charge. As of April 1, 2026, an application fee of $150 will be charged per address point.
You can expect a processing time of 3-5 business days. Once approved, the new address will be shared with you and any necessary third parties including Canada Post.
Who can I contact for help registering my address?
You can:
Will there be a delay between when I register and when Canada Post recognizes my business address?
No. As soon as your address is registered with the RMWB, Canada Post will receive it the next business day.
Will I be able to keep my existing address when I register with the Municipality?
No. Most businesses will be given a new civic address when they register. There are set standards and regulations for civic addresses that must be followed to ensure consistency and navigability of streets. This helps people find your business easier, including first responders.
Why isn't my business address registered?
Most unregistered business addresses are spaces within buildings that were turned into units over time following the initial construction, such as industrial bays. When a building like this was originally built, a single address was assigned to the property.
However, over time, property owners created and assigned their own addresses to units, which wasn't aligned with municipal standards and regulations.
We recognize that switching addresses can create short-term challenges for businesses. However, aligning all addresses with municipal standards and regulations ensures that emergency services, customers and third parties like Canada Post can access your business with minimal delays.
