Transit On Demand Service update to improve ride availability

Starting June 22, there will be improved wait times and increased ride availability for Transit On Demand and Specialized Transit riders. The Transit On Demand software is being updated to connect riders with regular bus routes when they’re a practical option and to help ensure On Demand rides are available when needed.

How it will work:

The process for booking Transit On Demand trips will remain the same.
When booking a trip, the system will automatically determine whether Transit On Demand or a regular bus route is the best option.

Regular bus service is available instead of Transit On Demand when:

  • There is a regular bus route available within 35 minutes of the trip booking
  • The requested trip is within 400 metres of a bus stop along a regular bus route (approximately a five-minute walk).
  • Transit On Demand connects riders to regular bus routes and provides transit to areas not serviced by regular routes.
