Why Vote

Every Canadian citizen has the right to vote, to choose the leaders who will represent them. Voting is a responsibility that all Canadians should exercise.

There is no branch of government closer to your life than municipal government. Your community is shaped by the outcome of an election.

Voting connects citizens with the political process and with each other. When you take part in an election and express your view, you make democracy work.

About RMWB Council

In the next election, voters in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo will vote to elect their Mayor, Councillors and School Board Trustees. Voting for Mayor and your ward Councillor gives you a say in the direction Fort McMurray-Wood Buffalo will take.

RMWB Council makes decisions that impact development, and sets policies for programs and services that impact Wood Buffalo residents daily. These services include public transit, parks, recreation programs, animal and bylaw services, waste collection, water and police and fire services.

School Trustees are elected to make decisions on budgets and facilities in your school system.
