What is Public Engagement
Public Engagement connects the public and Municipality in a process of purposeful dialogue to discuss emerging opportunities and issues. Inviting public feedback into the decision-making process provides an opportunity to gain understanding, clarify challenges, and identify alternatives. Engagements are held in-person and/or virtually through the engagement platform.
Why we engage
Working together provides Council and Administration with diverse viewpoints to help make well-informed decisions that reflect community needs.
Public engagement often provides the following benefits:
» Facilitates understanding
» Taps into community insight and knowledge
» Allows honest feedback on what works or does not work for services or projects
» Provides a sense of community ownership and local pride
» Improves decisions by identifying critical issues early
» Builds new and existing relationships
When we engage
RMWB public engagement can occur for the following reasons:
» Establishing new programs, services, projects, or policies
» Reviewing or changing existing programs, services, projects, or policies
» Reviewing the Municipality’s strategic and business plans
» As required by legislation
» As deemed necessary by Council
» As requested by the public
