Councillor Ken Ball Resigns Ward 1 Council Seat
Ward 1 Councillor Ken Ball has formally submitted written notice of his resignation to Mayor Sandy Bowman and Interim Chief Administrative Officer Jody Butz, signaling his intention to resign from his position on Municipal Council effective immediately.
Councillor Ball was first elected in October 2021 and has served the residents of Ward 1 and the wider region for nearly four years.
“I would like to thank all of my Council colleagues for the time we’ve spent together building both professional and personal relationships while serving the great citizens of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. It has been a privilege to work alongside each of you and with members of Administration to help make this region a better place,” said Ken Ball.
Mayor Sandy Bowman offered words of appreciation:
“I want to sincerely thank Ken for his dedicated service to the region. It has been my honour to serve alongside him on Council. Ken has brought common sense, professionalism, and a commitment to this community to the Council table. I wish him nothing but the best in his next chapter.”
In accordance with the Municipal Government Act, Councillor Ball’s resignation will be formally reported and included as an official agenda item at the Council meeting on September 9, 2025. A general municipal election, including all Council seats, is scheduled to take place on October 20, 2025.
